Yep, Walmart. Let’s be realistic, not every cosplayer has access to a fabric store nearby and in the US, Walmarts are EVERYWHERE.
PROS: cheap, open long hours, EVERYWHERE
CONS: do not offer coupons, sometimes products can be a little too cheap, things not always in stock, not much variety
Fabric: Walmart has started selling pre-cut fabric rolled onto a small bolt. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The cotton is thin and will probably need to be lined to keep it from being too see-through. You also only have set options for fabric amount, usually a choice between one or two yards. Still it works in a pinch.
Bobbins: Considerably cheaper than buying in a fabric store, which might be why they go so quickly. When you see them, get them fast and save them for later projects.
Other sewing supplies: Brand name and often listed for prices lower than the fabric store FOR THE EXACT SAME THING.
Ultimately it depends on you, the savvy shopper. Walmart has pretty low base-prices but you can still sometimes get better deals at fabric stores during sales and with coupons.
